Steps to Studying Abroad

1. Visit the Office of Career Services as soon as possible (freshman year is not too soon to start your search) and speak with the advisor about program options and general William Woods University policies regarding study abroad. Pick up site-specific program information.
2. Review these materials carefully, keeping in mind your major, language abilities, and cultural interests.
3. Make an appointment with the Office of Career Services. The study abroad advisor will talk with you about your academic interests, assist you in narrowing down your program choices, explain application forms, and provide information to help you fill out your William Woods University Study Abroad application form (DOC).
4. Meet with your academic advisor and the registrar to have them review your course choices. The registrar will be able to guide you as to how the courses you plan to take overseas will transfer toward your WWU degree.
5. Meet with the Student Financial Services office to check out the possibility of obtaining a scholarship and/or using your financial aid for study abroad.
6. Return Study Abroad application (DOC) to the Office of Career Services where it will be checked to see that the proper signatures are in place.
