Lifelong Learners Program

Our Lifelong Learning Program is designed for adults who are ready to explore new interests, expand their knowledge, or revisit a passion without the commitment of pursuing a degree. Open to non-degree-seeking learners 55 years of age and older, this program offers affordable access to university courses in a supportive, enriching environment. Whether you are looking to stay intellectually engaged, develop new skills, or simply enjoy the college experience, our flexible enrollment options make it easy to learn at your own pace while connecting with a vibrant academic community.

Lifelong Learning

As a public service, the Executive Council has approved the enrollment of adults (age 55 and older) at a reduced tuition rate of $25.00 per course.

Requirements and Limitations

 

Requirements:

  • 55 years of age or older at the date of the first class meeting (no exceptions).
  • Limitation of one course (regardless of credit hours) per semester.
  • Admission as non-degree seeking student.
  • Must meet any pre-requisites which have been established for the course. Admission to courses with pre-requisites may require submission of transcripts or secondary school records.
  • Enrollment only in courses which have space(s) available for additional students. (Registration is not open until the Wednesday prior to the add/drop week.)
  • Coursework transcripted as per standard procedures.
  • Course requirements must be satisfied; performance graded as per standard University procedures.
  • Students must pay any and all fee (materials, laboratory, et. al.) associated with the course in which they are enrolled.
  • Students may enroll for summer courses only after regular registration for the session has closed and the final summer instructional schedule has been established.
  • The academic departments may identify specific courses in which senior enrollment is not allowed.
  • Senior students enrolled as par-time students at reduced tuition rates, are entitled to all of the privileges and benefits of other part-time students.
  • Senior students must complete application information which will enable institutional reporting for internal and external purposes. Application is to be made to the University Registrar’s office.

 

Limitations:

  • No refunds for withdrawal.
  • No changes in schedule (switching courses) after the start of instruction.
  • No enrollment in independent study or tutorial courses.
  • No enrollment in private lessons.
  • No enrollment in courses which have yet to attain a minimum enrollment necessary for offering.
  • No enrollment in graduate courses.
  • No enrollment in Access/Online courses.
  • No enrollment in courses conducted in the adult degree completion programs.
  • No enrollment at off-campus instructional center or venues.
  • No enrollment in study abroad.
  • No enrollment in internship.
  • No enrollment in Century Scholars multicultural component
  • Not eligible for cross registration programs with Westminster College or MMACU.
