Theater Minor

There are no small roles.

You will take a variety of courses and electives, introducing you to the magic of theatre, from stagecraft to acting, directing, makeup and more. Gain experience performing on stage at Cutlip Auditorium in front of 1200 audience members, or practice your techniques in our dance studio, scene shops, or on air in our radio/television studios.

A historical overview of performing arts including discussions of the organization, responsibilities and importance of the creative artists in dance, music, and theatre.

Must complete at least 3 credits from the following options 0

An introduction to the physical theatre and stage technology. Special emphasis is placed on set design and technical drawing. Required production laboratory.

Stagecraft 3

Explores in detail the theories and methods of lighting design. Special emphasis is placed on lighting instruments, dimmers, technical drawing and design. Required production laboratory.

Lighting for Stage and Set 3

Must complete at least 3 credits from the following options 0

Covers stage movement and voice production. Practical work in characterization, improvisation and scene work are required.

Acting I Basic Skills -X 3

A study of the basic principles, skills and techniques underlying directing for the theatre. The course will cover a brief history of directly followed by the production process and script analysis.
