Steve Gaw of Holts Summit, Mo., was appointed to the board in 2025. Steve is an attorney and a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives serving from 1993-2001, the last five years as Speaker of the House. Throughout his legislative career he was heavily involved in the advancement of education, public safety, and consumer issues. He is currently Senior Vice President of Infrastructure and Markets for the Advanced Power Alliance, where he represents clean energy interests in the Southwest Power Pool.
In addition to his time in the Missouri House of Representatives, Gaw previously served as Chair of the Missouri Public Service Commissioner, and was a Commissioner from 2001-2007. He was a partner and attorney at the Schirmer, Suter and Gaw Law Practice (1983-2001).
Gaw is a Summa Cum Laud graduate of Truman State University, where he received his bachelor of science in Physics. He received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri Law School. He has been recognized in his career with the Charles Dick Medal of Merit (National Guard Recognition), the University of Missouri Law School Alumnus Award, and the Geyer Education Award from the University of Missouri. Steve has been involved with horses throughout his life and he and his family raise American Saddlebred Horses on their farm in Callaway County, Missouri.
