Michele Markey ’82 joined the board in 2024. Markey recently retired as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skillpath, a leading provider of learning and development solutions for professionals worldwide, located in Mission, Kansas. With more than 35 years of experience in the industry, she was instrumental in transforming the way organizations approach professional development and employee training during her career. As CEO at Skillpath, she was responsible for providing strategic, financial and operational leadership for the 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Prior to joining Skillpath, Markey served as Vice President of Kauffman FastTrac at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City (2010-2018); President of Heartland Training Solutions, LLC in Lee’s Summit, Mo. (1994-2010) and Director of Training/Senior Manager of North America Field Training Operations for Wolseley North America in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has also served as an adjunct associate professor at MidAmerica Nazarene University, DeVry Institute of Technology and Longview Community College.
A published writer, Markey is author of SheVenture: Success Strategies for Female Entrepreneurs, published in 2014. She is a 1982 graduate of The Woods, with two majors (Political Science and Social Studies) and two minors (Secondary Education and Psychology).
