Dr. Wisdom, a public school educator at New Bloomfield R-III Schools for 21 years, nine of those years as superintendent, will leave the district to become the 14th President of William Woods University. The New Bloomfield Board of Education has accepted her resignation as Superintendent of the New Bloomfield R-III School District, effective June 30, 2026.
Wisdom is widely recognized as a leader in public education and was awarded the Missouri Association of Rural Education’s Outstanding Rural Administrator Award in October 2025. Under Dr. Wisdom’s tenure, the district has been state and nationally recognized for its innovative thinking and smart budgeting practices, bringing the district to invest in the future of all students for years to come. As Superintendent at New Bloomfield, Wisdom was instrumental in creating a collaborative culture, building a dynamic administrative team, leading the district through a global pandemic and raising teachers’ salaries. Additionally, she managed the finances for three bond issues that saw incredible facilities growth in the district, including a recent Vo-Ag addition, a greenhouse and a track and field expansion and renovation.
“It was a bittersweet moment accepting the resignation of an outstanding educator, superintendent, and overall person” said Angie Robinson Sullivan, president of the New Bloomfield Board of Education. “Dr. Wisdom could always be counted on to see the big picture for the district and consider all aspects of a decision. She will be sorely missed, but she is leaving New Bloomfield in an excellent position and poised to move forward with a high-performing team ready to educate our amazing students. We wish her nothing but the best in her new role at William Woods.”
Reflecting on her transition, Dr. Wisdom said, “This is a moment filled with both gratitude and emotion as I leave one home for another. New Bloomfield is not just where I have worked for 21 years, it is where I grew professionally and personally. I am a product of New Bloomfield, and I could not be more proud of what our team has accomplished together. The collaborative culture we built, the progress we made for students, and the unwavering support of this community are things I will always cherish. My heart will always be with New Bloomfield, and I am deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and partnership I was given. The lessons learned and the relationships formed here will stay with me throughout this next chapter. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.”
Commenting on her new role as President of William Woods, Dr. Wisdom said, “I am humbled and honored to serve as the next President of William Woods University. From the moment I enrolled as an undergraduate, I knew the Woods was more than a campus, it was home. It is a community rooted in tradition, strengthened by resilience, and united by a commitment to preparing students for successful lives and careers. As we look to the future, we will honor this legacy – even as we pursue academic innovation and institutional growth.”
Upon Dr. Wisdom’s July 1st arrival as 14th President of William Woods, the University’s current President, Romaine Seguin will transition back to her previous role as Chair of the William Woods Board of Trustees. For nearly two years, President Seguin’s leadership has played a pivotal role in ensuring a bright and continuing future for WWU. Her efforts have brought about academic and operational refinements that will ensure continued enrollment growth and an exceptional student experience, for many years to come.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as interim President of William Woods. But it is an even greater honor to announce Dr. Wisdom’s arrival as our next President. Sarah will no doubt bring to bear her considerable experience as an educator and her well-established track record of inspiring innovation in education. This is truly a great day for the university,” said President Seguin.
First Vice Chair of the WWU Board of Trustees, Steve Danner sums it all up quite well: “The appointment of Dr. Wisdom as President of William Woods begins a new chapter of leadership and vision that will bring inspiration and innovation for a new generation of academic excellence at The Woods,”
On behalf of New Bloomfield R-III Schools, New Bloomfield Board Chair Robinson Sullivan said the Board of Education is committed to a seamless transition and a plan is in place to begin the superintendent search process.
