Layers Art Exhibit Opens at William Woods

The Mildred M. Cox Gallery in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts at William Woods University is excited to present a collaborative exhibit featuring work from two St. Louis artists: Melody Evans and Kimber Mallett.

The show is open from Sept. 1–23. There will be an opening reception and gallery talk by the artists on Thurs., Sept. 7 from 6–8 p.m.

Mallett is a painter, graphic designer, and printmaker. For the past eighteen years, she has taught computer art and graphic design at St. Louis Community College, Lindenwood University, and Webster University. In 2017, she became the Graphic Design Specialist for Washington University’s Institute for School Partnership.

Evans started her career as a potter, before moving onto sculpture, large-scale installations, and drawings with collage and digital manipulations. She has large-scale permanent installations at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, National Great Rivers Research and Education Center, Alton Illinois, and the New St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. She currently teaches ceramics at St. Louis Community Colleges and Craft Alliance, St. Louis.

Admission to the Cox Gallery is free. It is open 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon. through Fri., and 1–4 p.m. Sat. and Sun.
