Located in the Gladys W. Kemper Center for the Arts, the Mildred M. Cox Gallery is a museum-quality viewing space that features rotating exhibits from students, faculty, alumni, and regional artists alike! We welcome you to come and visit. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

Admission to Cox Gallery is free from 12 - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 - 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Face masks required inside the gallery.

Creative Paleontology: The Artform of Prehistory

Opening Reception: January 26, 1 p.m.
Dr. Schmidt (Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Geology at Westminster College) as well as team member and experienced paleontologist, Dr. John Tosi, will exhibit excavated specimens/ fossils - including the parts of dinosaurs in Cox Gallery for the 2022 Student Art Exhibition. As a collaborative show, undergraduate student artists currently enrolled at William Woods University created original work (in a variety of media) based on their interaction with the sample specimens.

Through the Eyes of Another: A Photographic Exhibit
November 10 - December 6, 2021
Since 2007, William Woods students have traveled to every continent on the planet, crisscrossing the planet and making their own discoveries along the way. The photos highlight a particular landscape or a moment that was memorable to the traveler and we hear their words in reflection. In other cases, the images capture something important about the experience of travel itself.

Around the World in 300 Days: A Photographic Odyssey
September 7 - October 15, 2021
It is hard to get anywhere these days. But leave your passport at home and see the planet through the lens of Travis Tamerius, who directs the program Woods Around the World at William Woods University. This exhibit is an extended meditation on beauty, with the images and the words inviting you into a space of reflection on the presence of beauty. The show runs from Sept. 7 until Oct.15.

Artworks created by graduating William Woods University’s senior art majors will be showcased in this exhibition at the Mildred M. Cox Gallery. This exhibition includes productions of independent work, including photographs, sculptures, drawings, designs and prints by Maddie Carlson, Lexi Epple, Rosemary Lenz, Elli Luebbert, Allison Peak, Madison Schutz, Audrey Stokes, Arien Roden and Madeline Trusty.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to view the show in person within the gallery, while off campus individuals are invited to see the works through our virtual show.

Kemper Kids Art Camp
Intended for children K-8th grade, Kemper Kids will be hosted in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts. Three, five-day sessions will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Session I, July 22 - 26
Clay Art: Earth, Water, and Fire
The first week of camp, campers will use clay to create ceramic pots and sculptures using natural clays from Missouri. Traditional pinch, coil, and slab techniques will be used. Fired objects will be picked up at a later date.
Session II, July 29 - August 2
Magical Art: Adventures in Mixed Media
The second week of camp, students will explore how art is enchanting our senses and has the power to inspire. Campers will create art objects using non-traditional materials of their own creation, such as tissue paper medium, homemade clay, silicone, and much more.
Session III, August 5 - 9
Artist Colony: Green Art
The last week of camp, will focus on how alternative (recycled) and crafting materials from the natural environment can be incorporated in design to create beautiful art objects. Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and more traditional materials and processes will incorporate “green art” techniques and materials.

The Equality Matters, Conversations on Gender and Race exhibition takes place during third annual WWU’s Bridging Differences Symposium: Conversations on Gender, Race, and Equality, which is scheduled for February 18-20 2018. Participating artists present artworks in a multitude of media portraying their understanding on how issues of gender and race influence contemporary culture.

Sin Eaters is group of artists and professors from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Their intent is to create pieces that reflect each artist's interpretation of the term "Sin Eater" within the context of a personal standard of beauty. The result will be a transformation of the exhibit space on both a visual and introspective level. The work, though diverse, will create an environment that touches upon the sins that are known, carried, and also often hidden in an age where so much is commonly on display and publicized.
