Winter 2009-2010
President’s Perspective
from a fellow alum. You can contribute
online at You
can use the reply envelope enclosed in
this edition of The Woods magazine.
Or, you can give when a member of
the Phonathon Crew calls.
Every year, members of the WWU
Phonathon Crew enjoy calling our
alumni and parents to ask you to
contribute to the Annual Fund. They
understand the importance of the Annual
Fund and are grateful, as they beneft
directly from your generosity. Many
Phonathon students participate in the
LEAD program and receive scholar-
ships, and all enjoy the many campus
updates the Annual Fund provides.
Additionally, they love to hear what it
was like when you were on campus,
and they also truly enjoy talking with
the parents of their peers.
This year’s Phonathon Crew is
composed of 28 students, including
Jahnae H. Barnett, Ph.D.
William Woods University students,
faculty and staff are blessed by the
generosity of our alumni, parents and
friends. We have a positive and
up-to-date learning environment and a
beautiful campus. Every year, updates
such as wireless Internet access across
campus, the revitalization of Junior
Lake and the addition of sand volleyball
courts and new furniture around the lake
are provided by those who care for and
support The Woods by contributing to
the Annual Fund.
The Annual Fund, composed of
unrestricted gifts both small and large,
is a fund that allows the university to
address needs that arise on campus.
The Annual Fund allows us to have
fexibility and the ability to react quickly
to urgent needs when necessary.
How can you contribute to the Annual
Fund? You can contribute when you
receive a letter and response card
two from England and two originally
from South Africa. We have members
of the men’s soccer team, the cross
country team and two cheerleaders.
Education, equestrian studies, account-
ing, pre-vet, ASL, journalism, commu-
nications, political studies, art, graphic
design, sports management, business
and biology majors are part of the Crew.
They are also members of President’s
Twenty, Hunter/Jumper Show Team,
Dressage Club, Multicultural Affairs
Club, Student Assembly, Campus
Activities Board, Student Alumni
Council and sororities and fraternities.
Just as you did when you were a
student, today’s students beneft from
the generosity of alumni who care about
the success of William Woods University
and its students. When the Phonathon
Crew calls, I hope you will spend a few
minutes visiting with them. Share with
them your memories and experiences
at The Woods. Reminisce with
someone who is currently experiencing
The Woods Way, and please, consider
making a gift. Help us help today’s
students create their own memories.
