Laura Ward
Associate Professor of Equestrian Studies at 3/4 time employment
(573) 592-1153
Academic Building
Room: 99
Education
MS, Agricultural Education, University of Wisconsin - River Falls, 1995
BS, Equestrian Science, William Woods University, 1982
Teaching Philosophy:
It is the horse that brings students to the Equestrian Studies Division at WWU and the business/liberal arts setting that allows them to discover their best fit in this industry. Twenty-five years of teaching about horses has rewarded me with students and experiences that I could have never imagined. I have learned that teachable moments come at the most unexpected times, and that one ever knows if they will be the student or the teacher.
Major Areas of Interest:
Careers in the Horse Industry
Equestrian Programs — College/University
Equine Anatomy
Equine Management
Equine Nutrition
History of the Breeds of Horses
Longlining and Driving
Summer Riding Camps/Programs
