Job Title: Graduate Assistant - Sports Information
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Sports Information Director
Job Type: This is a part time, exempt position.
General Description:
The William Woods University Sports Information Department is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as a graduate assistant and help cover the Owls 17 NAIA sports and competitive outdoor life sports program.
This person will serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports and will gain experience working all William Woods Athletics home events.
The term of this job description is during the academic year as outlined by William Woods University. However, room and tuition continue year-round.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- 1. Write press releases and game recaps
2. Update rosters/bios for assigned sports
3. Update wwuowls.com on a daily basis
4. Maintain social media platforms (Twitter/Facebook/Instagram)
5. Create graphics using Gipper and Photoshop
6. Set up game day equipment for home games
7. Stat home games and communicate with NAIA, AMC and opposing SIDs
8. Fill in other areas when needed on game days
Position Requirements:

1. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in sports management, communications, journalism, athletic administration or a related field
2. Excellent AP writing skills and communication skills
3. Working knowledge of Presto Stats software
4. Working knowledge of desktop publishing tools (InDesign, Photoshop)
5. Graduate Assistants must apply and be accepted into a master's program at William Woods University.

· Ability to lift tables and tents for soccer games.
· Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day and move freely on campus.
· Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time.
· Ability to spend time outdoors and in inclement weather.
· Ability to speak and read English fluently.
· Ability to hear.
· Ability to use a computer keyboard and phone.
· Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus.
· Must possess a valid driver's license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.
Work Schedule:
Graduate Assistants work an average of 25 hours per week (including days, nights, and weekends). The Graduate Assistant is not required to work during the summer months, but may continue to live in campus housing (if awarded) and continue taking classes.
This position begins August 1, 2023.
