Job Title: Adjunct Instructor for Legal Studies

Department: School of Social Sciences

Reports To: Dean of the School of Social Sciences

Job Type: This is a part time, exempt position.

General Description:

William Woods University is accepting applications for adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate legal studies courses.  Areas of teaching include a variety of courses across our legal studies curriculum.  The contracted teaching load is 3 to 9 credit hours per semester, depending on the needs of the program.  There may be opportunities to teach summer and intercession courses.

Adjunct faculty are expected to conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards developed by the University.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualified applicants must submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and unofficial transcripts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·   Teach legal studies coursework in an online setting.

·   Maintain annual professional development according to personal and professional need.

·   Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

·       A master’s degree in legal studies or a related field is required.  A JD or terminal degree in a legal related field such as Master’s of Library Science-Law or Master’s in Legal Studies/Paralegal Studies is preferred. 

·       A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a legal environment is preferred. 

·       Teaching experience at a higher educational institution is preferred.

·       Demonstrated commitment to professional development, strong work ethics, and a commitment to working well with others.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

·       3+ years’ experience in a substantive area of legal or legal-related practice

·    Academic publications related to a specific substantive area may be substituted for 2 years of demonstrated experience.

·       Online teaching experience

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position, which begins immediately and will continue based on the needs of the program.  Adjunct positions will remain open until filled.
