Job Title: Assistant Baseball Coach
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Head Baseball Coach and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.
General Description:
The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for promoting William Woods Athletics through the academic, on-field and off-field development of the baseball program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hitting coach preferred
- Head Developmental Coach
- Assist Head Baseball Coach with all aspects of the program.
- Run day to day operations dealing with the offense when it comes to development.
- Be available for all practices and workouts.
- Recruit student-athletes that meet WWU Admissions guidelines as well as NAIA eligibility standards.
- Ability to assist with field general field maintenance.
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with the values of the university and baseball program.
- Assist in monitoring academic progress.
- Assist in transportation of team and travel requirements.
- Actively promote the university.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Administration.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience as a player at the collegiate or progressional level.
- Preferred knowledge of and commitment to NAIA rules; preferred knowledge of Champions of Character program and commitment to its principles and goals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to recruit.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Ability to speak and read English fluently.
- Must possess a Missouri driver’s license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Schedule:
This is an exempt, 10-month position requiring 40+ hours per week with day, evening, or weekend work as needed.
