SCA207 Understndng Family Dynmcs & Dysfnct

Deal with the structure, function, and changing dynamics of family life in the U.S.. This course will explore the biological, cultural, and historical foundations of the family as an institution. Special emphasis will be placed on the functions western societies have traditionally allocated to the family and on the changes the institution is undergoing as other agencies in society take over those functions. An exploration of different lifestyles and other forms of organization that might represent viable alternatives to the traditional form of family organizations will be explored.
