ASL321 Sociological Perspectives of Deaf Education

This course is an analysis of the Deaf educational systems and their impact on the sociological development, worldview, and culture of a person who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. A historical survey along with contemporary theories and models of education, Deaf education, language policies, and education laws such as IDEA, No Child Left Behind, and other acts will be covered. The role and responsibility of educational interpreters K-12 and in Post-Secondary settings will also be covered.
