COM 304 - Sports Media

This class will cover the field of sports media and understand why sports journalists do what they do and how they do it. We will emphasize the strategic ways sports messages inform, shape, entertain, and persuade audiences. This course is an upper-level course designed for students interested in the field of sports journalism and reporting. You will learn skills in sports reporting, commentary, interviewing, blogging, broadcasting, social media, and stage press conferences. We will also critique various forms of sports media and organizations to uncover the ways sports media communicate power, ideology, race, gender, and class.
