Honorary and Memorial Donations

Honorary

What are honorary and memorial donations?

Honorary gifts to William Woods are made "in honor of" a living individual. Memorial gifts are made "in memory of" a deceased individual. Gifts of both types are often made to honor or memorialize a faculty or staff member or alumnus or other individual who has a connection to the William Woods University community.

Who should consider an honorary or memorial donation?

You should consider making an honorary gift to acknowledge the important people in your life or in recognition of a special occasion, such as a birthday, graduation, or anniversary. Honorary gifts are often given to show appreciation for someone's kindness or to recognize their impact on your life. Memorial donations are a special way to memorialize someone special to you who has passed away. You may make a gift of any size in honor or memory of an individual.

Benefits and ways to participate in honorary and memorial donations

  • You may honor fellow alumni, friends, faculty/staff members or any other constituent of William Woods.
  • Your honorary or memorial gift is listed in the annual Donor Honor Roll in The Woods magazine, and lists both the donor's name and the honoree/memorialized individual.
  • Gifts to WWU, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
