Andrea Weed

Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Missouri

Class of 2011 - B.A. English

Andrea lives in Michigan, and is the Director of Marketing and Partnership Activation with the Battle Creek Bombers, a collegiate summer league baseball team.

I’m responsible for overseeing and coordinating all marketing and communication efforts (PR, social media, website, game-day promotions, media relations, etc.), as well as ensuring all client partnership deals are fulfilled. I definitely have a packed schedule, but I can’t express how excited I am to have a job doing the things I love (and there’s a baseball field outside my office window)!

"Eventually, I hope to be called up to the majors, but I want to spend my first few years of professional development with a small team. I'm interested in [Minor League Baseball] because smaller teams have a great culture where creativity is valued and encouraged. I'd be able to experiment with my ideas more than I'd be able to in [Major League Baseball]."

Andrea chose William Woods for its close-knit atmosphere. "I suppose there's a parallel between my career plans and how I approached my education (small, then large). William Woods is a great place to get involved, make a difference, and learn because you can't get lost in the crowd. You're more than just a student. When I got to Mizzou, I already knew what it felt like to be known by my professors and peers, so I was able to adjust to Mizzou's largeness better than I probably would have as a college freshman."

While at William Woods, Andrea served as the main reporter for the University's "Talon" newspaper and "Hoot" magazine, and also wrote press releases for the University's web site.
