Move-in and Orientation Updates for Fall 2021

Congratulations again on your decision to join The Woods community. You will find our community to be friendly, welcoming, and supportive. We look forward to sharing in your college adventure and to helping you transition to your new "home away from home".

Below you will find information on several key upcoming events – including Early Owl Drop-off, New Student Orientation and Move-In Day(s).

Be sure to check your new student checklist in Owlnet, too, for important tasks you need to complete to prepare for fall.

Early Owl Drop-off

Early Owl Drop-off provides the opportunity to drop off your residence hall room items and leave them on campus until it is time for your official Move-in Day. Many students and their families find this a convenient way to get prepared and take some of the stress off the August Move-in experience. You will be able to access your residence hall room and get organized a bit before going home to enjoy the rest of your summer.

Who can participate in Drop-off?

This year, this is being offered only to those who are fully vaccinated* by July 29.

When is Early Owl Drop-off?

This will be held on Friday, July 30 from 9 - 11 a.m.
For those also attending Woods 101 on July 30, this is an added convenience. However, you don’t need to be a Woods 101 attendee on that day to participate.

What should I expect at Early Owl Drop-off?

Check-in will be facilitated as a drive-thru where you will remain in your car while we get your residence hall door code and information about where to go next. You will then drive to your designated unloading zone, as directed.

In your unloading zone, you’ll wait in your vehicle for assistance. We will have staff to help you check in, find your way and answer questions. Please also note:

  • U-Hauls or any other oversized vehicles are not permitted during the move-in.
  • A driver must remain with the vehicle at all times in the unloading zone. Once your vehicle is unloaded, please move to designated parking areas.

How do I sign up for Drop-off?

You can register for your preferred Drop-off time by selecting from the links below:

Don’t have your things packed up and ready to drop off? No problem! We’ll see you in August.

When will I get my housing assignment?

To create the best possible residential plan for your health and safety, you can expect to receive your housing assignment by mid-July.

What should I expect on Move-in Day?

Check-in will be facilitated as a drive-thru where you will remain in your car while we get your residence hall door code and information about where to go next. You will then drive to your designated unloading zone, as directed.

In your unloading zone, you’ll wait in your vehicle for assistance in unloading and moving in your personal belongings. While we will have volunteers to help you check in, find your way and answer questions.

Please note:

  • U-Hauls or any other oversized vehicles are not permitted during the move-in.
  • A driver must remain with the vehicle at all times in the unloading zone. Once your vehicle is unloaded, please move to designated parking areas.
*You are considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after the second dose of a 2-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.
