Graduate Bridge Program

Graduate Bridge Programs

William Woods University undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in the William Woods University's Graduate Bridge Program. Through this program, students have the opportunity to complete their bachelors and graduate degrees in less than the normal time it would take to complete both degrees separately.  This saves you both time in completing both your bachelor’s and master’s degree and money (students accepted into the bridge program will pay undergraduate tuition rates for graduate courses taken as an undergraduate student.  When they complete their bachelor’s degree, they will receive a 20% discount on graduate tuition from the Alumni Association as long as they remain continuously enrolled.

How the Graduate Bridge Program Works

Main campus students: A full-time undergraduate student may take one graduate course in the summer between their junior and senior year, then during their final two semesters as an undergraduate student, one graduate course per term in the fall semester and one graduate course per term in the spring semester in addition to any undergraduate courses they need to complete.  This means students may take up to five graduate courses while enrolled in the bridge program although they may choose to take fewer than five courses depending on individual circumstances. *

Online students: During a student’s final five terms as an undergraduate, a full-time online undergraduate student may take one graduate course per term in addition to any undergraduate courses they need to complete. *

*Note: Individual programs may have additional requirements to include restrictions on the total number of courses a student in the bridge program may take as an undergraduate.  Students should consult with their advisor and the discipline’s program manager for additional information.

Graduate courses are 8 weeks long and may be offered on-campus or online as determined by the individual program.  Well-prepared students may substitute up to five graduate courses for required or elective courses in an undergraduate degree program and then subsequently count those same courses as fulfilling graduate requirements in a related graduate program that William Woods University offers.

Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in order to register for their first graduate course and they must maintain a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher to continue in the Graduate Bridge Program.  Additionally, students must make satisfactory progress in their graduate program of study.

Following completion of their undergraduate degree, William Woods University students will be automatically accepted into their chosen graduate degree program in order to continue in their graduate studies and transfer credits into that program.  During their final semester as an undergraduate, students need to apply for graduate admissions in order to be automatically accepted.  However, they do not need to submit official baccalaureate degree transcripts from William Woods University.
