I plan on working for the Missouri Commission for Deaf and Hard of Hearing for a few years, then moving to Canada and finding a position as an interpreter.

Why did you come to William Woods?

The American Sign Language program, but I stayed because of the community that is built on campus.

What has been your favorite class here so far? Why?

ASL II. Professor Becky Davis is a wonderful teacher who cares immensely for students’ education and always does her best to keep her students engaged.

What has been your favorite LEAD event so far?

The Take Back College Keynote because Ryan Penneau explained leadership in a way that no leadership conference has ever taught me.

What’s one thing you wish you had known when you first started at William Woods?

I wish I knew that Accounting was not the right major for me.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?

I am a native-born Argentinian, but around the age two I moved to the U.S. with my mother and father. I grew up in Mexico, Missouri, and most summers I would visit my family back in Argentina. I’m a dual citizen and a first-generation college student.

Also, I wish people knew that I love stargazing and most space-related things.

Have you ever had a fun nickname?

Most people call me Leo, but one of my friends calls me Lenny.

What is your favorite thing in your room here and why?

Perry the platypus. He works as a pillow and is great to hug out my stress.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

The Burton Building. It holds a lot of LEAD events and almost all my classes.

Where do you like to study?

I study in my fraternity’s study room. I study in groups and take frequent short breaks, so I don’t overwhelm myself with information.

What is a typical weekday like for you at William Woods?

I go to class until around 4, then I go to the gym, and afterward I work on homework or spend time with friends.

What is your favorite place in Fulton?

McDonald’s, because it’s open 24/7 and I love chicken nuggets.

What has surprised you the most about going to school at William Woods?

The geese are everywhere.

What has been the most challenging part of college?

Being involved in clubs, Greek life and having a job.

What is one word your friends would use to describe you?

Empathic.

What is one word you’d use to describe William Woods?

Community.

What is your favorite memory of your time here at William Woods so far?

I can’t pinpoint a favorite because I have many different friend groups, each one with their own great memories.

Who is your favorite faculty or staff member?

Professor Carrie McCray, because her honesty and solid logic have helped me with deciding my career path.

What is your superpower?

I am a jack of all trades. I can pick up hobbies quickly and be average at them.
