Frequently Asked Questions about Stone-Campbell Apartments

Can more than 4 people live in an apartment?

Yes!  For 2008-2009, Residential Life will allow four, five, or even six people to live in an apartment.  For example, if six people want to live in an apartment, there would be two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms with three people sharing each bathroom.  If a team chooses to have more than four people in an apartment, they will need to designate on their apartment application which residents have agreed to share a bedroom.  Once a team has applied and received an apartment space, the total number of residents living in this apartment must remain the same.  Therefore, if six people apply for and receive an apartment then six people must move into this apartment in the fall.

Do I have to submit a least a team of four to apply for the Stone-Campbell Apartments?

We strongly encourage it. Any team that applies with four or more members will take priority over a team with fewer members. However, since we cannot anticipate how many teams will apply, if you have a partial team you could win a spot if there are not enough full teams applying. In this case, Residential Life will most likely assign an incoming transfer student to live with you, though decisions will be made on a case by case basis.

Are my chances for getting an apartment better if we have more than four people apply?
Since the application process is based on the group’s average total, your score will not be impacted by the number in your group.  The rationale for allowing more than four people in an apartment is to provide multiple housing options for our residents.

What do I do if I can’t find enough people to get a team of four, five, or six?

Stop by the Office of Residential Life and leave your name. We will try to keep a list of others who are in your situation and introduce you so you can put full teams together.

Do you have to be 21 to live in the apartments?

You do not have to be 21 years old to live in the apartments.  Any independent student can live in the apartments. When you submit your team, we will assign priority to your group based upon GPAs and credit hours. The teams with the highest averages will be selected for Stone-Campbell. Anyone, including rising sophomores, are encouraged to apply if they are interested.

Do Stone-Campbell Apartments qualify as living on campus?

Yes, the apartments are a part of the residence hall system and therefore qualify as living on campus.  This also means that while living in Stone-Campbell you must abide by all University and residence hall policies.

What kind of furniture will be provided?

The living rooms will have two chairs, a sofa and a coffee table. The bedrooms will be furnished with standard residence hall bedroom furniture which includes a desk, desk chair, dresser, bed, and mattress for each resident.

How much does it cost to live in Stone-Campbell?

The rooming costs for 2008-2009 will be $4150 for a double bedroom and $4450 for a single bedroom.  A $250.00 refundable deposit per person must be submitted at the time of application.

Do I have to purchase a meal plan?

Yes, all students living on campus at William Woods University must purchase a mean plan.
