Residence Halls
The university has a number of policies relating specifically to residence halls. This information is available in the student handbooks. A complete copy can be requested from the Office of Community Life.
Residents are not allowed to provide their residence hall combination to another individual. If it is determined that a hall security combination has been provided to a non-resident, a request is often forwarded to the maintenance staff to install a new combination.
Residents are provided with a key for access to their individual rooms. All residents are encouraged to lock their rooms upon departure.
Community advisors make routine duty rounds to check for unlocked or propped exterior residence hall doors, unlocked windows, availability of fire extinguishers, etc.
Campus Facilities
Maintenance personnel have access to all campus facilities with the exception of campus-owned staff residences. Daily facility evaluations are conducted to ensure the safety and security of campus residents, employees, and guests.
Custodial staffs have limited access to campus facilities. Keys are issued daily, depending on assignments, and staff are required to follow guidelines regarding hazardous materials and facility safety procedures.
