What Would Jesus

­­­Over a decade ago, the song artist Joan Osborne posed a memorable question in her one-hit wonder, One of Us:

            “what if God was one of us,

            just a slob like one of us,

            just a stranger on a bus,

            trying to make his way home?”

This year during chapel, we’ll try a similar thought exercise, asking the question, what would Jesus Twitter?  We’ll imagine Jesus using the new social media of today and giving updates on the things that interest him and that are important for his friends to know.  We won’t make it up.  We’ll simply take the wisdom sayings he spoke years ago, those short proverbs in the Bible which are memorable and meaningful, and consider how they might apply to our lives today.  The setting is informal and conversational and aimed at giving you encouragement in the middle of your busy week.  I hope you’ll join us each Tuesday, 1 – 1:30 PM, in Thurmond Chapel.
