“It takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville,” Music Theatre International said. “The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for his freedom.”
Guest artist Kathy Potter will direct the musical. Adrienne Branson, adjunct dance instructor and WWU alumna, will be the choreographer. Joe Potter will design the set and lights, while Jane Friedman will design the costumes. Musical direction will be by guest artist Hilary Myers, choral director of Fulton Middle School.
Performances are scheduled for Oct. 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8 p.m. in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center. A matinee performance is scheduled for Oct. 17 at 2:30 p.m.
