Within the confines of the lower level of Dulany Library are three new study rooms for William Woods University students to utilize. The study rooms were especially popular as students completed projects or studied for finals in early December.

Printed volumes that were once in the law collection of the library can now be found digitally, which means there was space available. Three rooms were transformed into study rooms, two of which are equipped with state-of-the-art “brainstorming tables.”  The third room houses a table-top-style smart board called a “sympodium.”

Erlene Dudley, library director, described “brainstorming tables” as tables with “a round white board in the middle that rotates so they can be written on and spun so students can share ideas.”

Dudley said she thinks the new study rooms will be well-liked because study space in the library is always at a premium.

“There were students in these rooms as soon the tables were moved in.”

The study rooms are on a first-come first-served basis. Students may check out dry-erase markers at the circulation desk.

“The newest addition to the library has been a great place for studying and a convenient place to work on group projects for class,” said Phoebe Brown, a junior communication major from Alameda, Calif.

“Being able to sit in a private room with the ability to brainstorm on a table top has helped me accomplish what needs to be done in a time-effective manner.  If other students haven't had time to venture downstairs in the library, they should because it's totally worth it!”
