William Woods University. Each year the
riding disciplines recognize outstanding graduating seniors in each discipline. While many equestrian students go above-and-beyond during the academic year, Calvird has been one of the most reliable “above-and-beyond during the breaks” workers.
She has been instrumental in keeping the dressage
school string
healthy and happy during many Thanksgiving, semester
(Christmas) and spring breaks.
Break workers turn-out and groom
horses, clean stalls and feed
all 150 WWU horses, regardless of discipline.
Karen Pautz, WWU clinical dressage instructor,
said, “We thank you, and more importantly, the dressage horses thank you!”
Last summer, Calvird
scheduled time off from her job to be a
residential and teaching assistant for session
II of WWU’s Summer Riding
Program. This was the week of younger riders. She said staying in a residence
hall with 50 pre-teens
“sounded like fun.”
