WWU hunter/jumper riders enjoy Germantown, Tenn.

William Woods University’s hunter/jumper students spent a
week in Germantown, Tenn., this spring at the Spring Time Encore show.Linda McClaren, a professor of equestrian studies
at WWU, took 24 riders, 26 horses and five student grooms to the show, which took
place at the Germantown Charity Show grounds and was sponsored by the West
Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association.
The following students showed in the hunter divisions:
Kristen Busher, of St. Petersburg, Fla., rode
Juneau in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions. The
pair brought home a variety of ribbons.
Eilie Cole, of Friendswood, Texas, showed Glory
Road in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions. The
pair brought home numerous ribbons, including a second and two thirds.
Geri Crawford, of Plano, Texas, rode Cosmopolitan
in the Limit Rider and Pre-Adult divisions. The pair won numerous ribbons including
two firsts and a second in the Limit Rider division.
Stephanie Fisher, of Coppell, Texas, showed Catillac,
a horse she has projected all semester, in the Baby Green division. They
brought home numerous ribbons and never placed below fifth.
Taylor Hahn, of Ellisville, Mo., rode Fergus
O’Sullivan in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions.
Horse and rider brought home a number of ribbons.
Melanie Hemstreet, of Issaquah, Wash., showed J Arthur
in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions. They placed
second in one of their Adult Amateur classes and in the Adult Amateur Stake, as
well as bringing home an array of other ribbons.
Kelly Henry, of Jefferson City, Mo., rode Varena
in the Adult Amateur and the Modified Child Adult divisions. The pair placed
fourth in the Adult Amateur Stake and brought home several other ribbons.
Ali Herzog, of Barrington, Ill., showed Blue
October in the Limit Rider Hunter and the Pre-Adult divisions. The pair won a
blue ribbon in one of their Limit Rider Hunter classes, and second in each of
the remaining Limit Rider classes. They also placed third in one of their
Pre-Adult classes and brought home a variety of other ribbons.
Kasia Marcinkiewicz, of King of Prussia, Penn., rode
Timeless in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions as
well as in the WIHS/NAL Adult Hunter Classic. The pair brought home two second
place ribbons, a seventh place in the Classic and numerous other ribbons. They
were also named Reserve Champion in the Adult Amateur 18-35 division.
Ashley Martin, of Belvidere, Ill., showed
Worthwhile in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and Modified Child Adult divisions. Horse
and rider placed second in one of their Modified Child Adult classes, as well
as bringing home a fifth and an eighth place ribbon.
Kirsten Schwall, of New Lebanon, Ohio, rode Sainted
in the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions. The pair
brought home numerous ribbons including a second and two third place ribbons.
Sarah Slutz, of Middleton, Idaho, showed
Remington in the Performance Hunter 3’3”, Pre-Green Hunter and Adult Amateur
18-35 divisions. Horse and rider brought home third in one of their Adult
Amateur classes and never placed below fifth.
Chelsea Ziebert, of Sandy, Utah, rode Sam I Am in
the Adult Amateur 18-35 and the Modified Child Adult divisions. The pair
brought home several ribbons and never placed below seventh.
The following students showed in the jumper divisions:
Rachel Arnold, of Prairie Village, Kan., showed
Lentando in the .85 meter and .95 meter Jumpers. They placed second and third
in two of the .95 Jumper classes and placed in no lower than fourth in the .85
Jumper classes.
Caydie Bennet, of Aguanga, Calif., rode Gipou des
Etisses in the .85 meter, .95 meter, and the Low Child Adult Jumpers. They
brought home several ribbons including two fifth place ribbons in the Low Child
Adult Jumpers.
Victoria Berlin, of Southlake, Texas, showed Colonia
in the 1.0 meter, 1.10 meter and the High Child Adult Jumpers, as well as the
WIHS/NAL Child Adult Jumper Classic. The pair won one of their High Child Adult
Classes, placed second and third in a 1.10 meter class and a 1.0 meter class
respectively. They also earned a fifth place ribbon for their efforts in the
Child Adult Jumper Classic.
Emma Biedrzycki, of Bedford, N.H., rode Chin Chin in
the .85 meter and .95 meter Jumpers. The pair won two .85 Jumper classes,
placed second in a .95 Jumper class and also brought home a fourth and a sixth.
Kristen Busher, of St. Petersburg, Fla., also rode
Flint in the 1.0 meter and Low Child Adult Jumpers. They brought home a second
in a 1.0 meter Jumper class, placed third in two of the Low Child Adult Jumper
classes and brought home several other ribbons.
Kayla Cardinal, of Carol Stream, Ill., showed
Forest Warfare in the .85 meter and .95 meter Jumpers. The pair brought home
several ribbons, including a third in one of the .85 meter Jumper classes.
Stephanie Fisher, of Coppell, Texas, also rode Get In
Line in the .95 meter, 1.0 meter and Low Child Adult Jumpers. The pair won one
of their .95 meter Jumper classes and brought home two fourth place ribbons and
a seventh place.
Jacque Franco, of San Diego, Calif., showed
Shadowfax in the 1.10 meter and the High Child Adult Jumpers and the WIHS/NAL
Child Adult Jumper Classic. The pair brought home a third in one of their High
Child Adult Jumper classes, and a fourth in a 1.10 meter Jumper class. They
brought home a variety of other ribbons and placed seventh in the Child Adult
Jumper Classic.
Colleen Harper-Hertzog, an alumna from Fulton, Mo., rode
Voila in the .85 meter and .95 meter Jumpers. The pair brought home a third and
a fifth in each division, respectively.
Katie Hodges, of San Antonio, Texas, showed
Nefris in the .85 meter and the Low Child Adult Jumpers. Horse and rider
brought home a second in one of their .85 meter Jumper classes, a third in one
of their Low Child Adult Jumper classes and seventh in another Low Child Adult
Jumper class.
Hannah Podgorski, of Glastonbury, Conn., rode Regatta
in the .85 meter, .95 meter and Low Child Adult Jumpers. The pair won one of
their .95 meter Jumper classes, and brought home three second place ribbons in
the Low Child Adult Jumper division, earning them a Reserve Championship in
that division.
Elena Smith, of Moscow, Tenn., showed Rowenda’s
Irish Mist in the .85 meter and .95 meter Jumpers. They earned a second place
in one of their .85 meter Jumper classes, and brought home a variety of other
ribbons.
Angela Villavicencio, of Camarillo, Calif., rode
Omnistarr in the .95 meter and the 1.0 meter Jumpers. The pair earned a seventh
place ribbon in one of their .95 Jumper classes and a sixth place in one of
their 1.0 meter Jumper classes.
“I went to Tulsa last year as a groom and photographer, but
this semester I was lucky enough to get to take Forest and actually compete.
The best part of the experience was the team work the girls on the show team
have. We may be competing against each other, but we support one another 100
percent,” said freshman Kayla Cardinal.
