William Woods University student Drew Arnett of Columbia, Mo., is the recipient of the Hellenic Spirit Foundation Award from the Missouri Colleges Fund in honor of his Greek heritage. Arnett is going into his senior year, majoring in theatre performance.

He is originally from St. Louis, but his family has moved a total of eight times during the course of his life. His goal is to get out to L.A. or London to become a working actor. He hopes to visit London for his final semester to study abroad, and truly see if he would like the stage life.

Arnett’s outlook on life can be pretty much summed up in one key phrase, ''Hakuna Matata,'' (it means no worries).  He feels he wouldn't be the person he is today without the process of learning how to meet people during his many moves.

His biological father was born in Greece and the culture has always been in his life. His grandfather speaks very little English, and lives on the Greek island of Molivos. Meeting him for the first time last year was definitely a landmark in his life.

Arnett has taught himself how to play numerous instruments, including guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and banjo. He is a break dancer, a beat boxer, a hackie sack player and a skateboarder.
