Traylor named Honorary Alumnus

Travis Traylor of Houston, Texas, was named an honorary alumnus during William Woods University’s Alumni Weekend. Honorary alumni are selected for their distinguished personal achievement, outstanding community service and dedication to William Woods University.

A member of the WWU board of trustees for 25 years, Traylor has been an honorary trustee since 1988. He was also awarded the WWU President’s Medal in 2009 and is a lifetime member of the President’s Club Giving Society.
 
In 1947, Traylor joined the American General Investment Corporation.  In 1952, he founded Union Mortgage and served as president until the company merged with First Mortgage Company of Texas, Inc. in 1964.
 
Traylor has an impressive record of founding Clear Lake Savings Association, founder and chairman of the Board of Parkway National Bank, past president of Houston and Texas Mortgage Bankers Association of America and much more.
 
He has held numerous leadership positions in the Boys Scouts of America and has received the Eagle Award, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope and Silver Buffalo awards from the organization.
 
Traylor attended Westminster College for three years before enlisting in the Navy. One of his daughters, Susan, was a student at William Woods in the 1970s.
