Students receive awards for portfolios

William Woods University students in the art, theatre and communications areas recently received achievement awards during annual portfolio reviews.

Students presented their portfolios in front of various faculty and staff members, as well as working professionals. They were judged on their presentation in a variety of categories, based on the work they've done while at WWU.

The purpose of the review is to assess the educational development and growth of the students and award those who have excelled in their field.
 
Six visual art students were recipients: Kelsey Dunavant, Fulton, Mo., professional development; Erica Begley, Hannibal, Mo., expression and creativity; Tara Schulte, Montgomery City, Mo., dedication to the arts; Adelle DuSold, Franklin, Ind., craftsmanship and design; Katherine Iffrig, Moscow Mill, Mo., expression and creativity; Megan Lovino, Custer Park, Ill., artistic growth; Ben Nickelson, Jefferson City, Mo., faculty recognition award and student choice award.
 
Three students earned awards in theatre: Katherine Carney, St. Peters, Mo., professional presentation; Jason Cavallone, Fulton, Mo., dedication to craft; Paige Runge, St. Louis, Mo., artistic growth.
 
In communications, four students received awards: Elizabeth Tuma, Brunswick, Ohio, professional presentation; Bailey Campanini, Camdenton, Mo., creativity; Lincoln Purvis, Montgomery City, Mo., technical support; and Calvin Hawkins, Wentzville, Mo., overall growth.
