Clothesline Project aims to create awareness of domestic violence

Students at William Woods University have a message to convey about domestic violence, and they will decorate t-shirts to communicate their point.

Members of Alpha Chi Omega sorority will hold their annual “Clothesline Project” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Ivy Room on the lower level of Tucker Dining Hall. Participants will decorate t-shirts, and the shirts will be hung up on campus to display their messages.
 
Alpha Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is domestic violence awareness, and October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
 
“This event is a great opportunity for students to show their support for victims of domestic violence and raise awareness about the issue,” said Liza Payne, president of Alpha Chi Omega.
 
There will also be a guest speaker from CARDV (Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence). This is the local facility that the Alpha Chi Omega chapter at William Woods University supports.
 
CARDV began in 1978 with a two-fold purpose: to provide services and support to those affected by sexual and domestic violence, and to provide education and leadership within the community to change the societal conditions that cultivate these forms of violence.
