In celebration of Halloween, a William Woods University honor society will show a movie based on a Stephen King book.

WWU’s English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta, will host its annual movie night at 7 p.m.  Oct. 25 in the library auditorium on campus.

This year’s film will be “1408,” directed by Mikael Hafstrom and based on the original short story by Stephen King. John Cusack plays the part of Mike Enslin, a writer who makes his living debunking paranormal hoaxes and what he experiences in the famously haunted room, 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel in New York City.

“Showing this film is a great way to celebrate Halloween and promote the work of a well-known author,” explains Dr. Eric Hillskemper, assistant professor of English and Sigma Tau Delta’s faculty adviser.

Sigma Tau Delta members will sell club and movie-related buttons in Tucker Dining Hall leading up to the event, and those buying a button will be entered into a drawing to win a $20 Amazon gift card to be awarded at the event.

“This is a frightfully exciting way to explore and enjoy literature,” said Jenny Kesel, a senior English major and Sigma Tau Delta member.
