FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (573) 592-1127

William Woods University will hold open auditions for the play "Amadeus" at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.

Auditions are open to high school and college students, faculty and staff, and the community.

“Amadeus,” by Peter Schaffer, was the winner of a Tony Award for Best Play and an Academy Award for Best Film. Based on the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, the highly fictionalized play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, 2 and 3 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 in Cutlip Auditorium.

There will be roles available for 6-8 women and 8-9 men. No monologue is required for the audition as it will be a cold reading from the script. However, it is strongly recommended that the script be read before the audition.

Callbacks, by invitation only, will be Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in Cutlip Auditorium.

The production will be directed by Melissa Alpers-Springer, assistant professor of communication and theatre. For more information, call the theatre department at 573-592-4281 or visit the Facebook page by searching for William Woods University Theatre Department.
