Auditions Open for ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’

William Woods University will hold open auditions for the musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone,” Aug. 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.

Auditions are open to community members, high school students, William Woods University and Westminster College students, faculty and staff.
 
“We will show no casting preferences, nor give anyone auditioning first choice of roles,” Joe Potter, artistic director of theatre, said.
 
There are 13 principal roles available, plus a small-size singing and dancing ensemble. Attendance at both auditions, plus callbacks on Aug. 24, are required to be considered for a principal role.
 
Actors and actresses should prepare a 30-45 second comic monologue and 16 bars of any 1920s or 1930s Tin Pan Alley or musical theatre song from this time period. An accompanist will be provided.
