Melanie White Named to Who’s Who

Melanie WhiteMelanie White of Manhattan, Kan., has been named to the 2011 edition of “Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
 
White, an elementary education major, was one of 14 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who based on outstanding campus leadership.
 
A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
 
By being listed in “Who’s Who,” White joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
 
White also received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Senior Award at William Woods University’s recent co-curricular honors banquet.
 
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
 
White is a member of Chi Omega, a community advisor, secretary of the Student Alumni Council and a member of the education club and the Relay for Life team. In addition, she vice president of Order of Omega Greek honor society and a member of Kappa Delta Pi education honor society.
