Rachel WeberRachel Weber of Millstadt, Ill., has been named to the 2011 edition of “Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

She was one of 14 WWU students selected for Who’s Who, based on outstanding campus leadership.

Weber, a biology major, was also named the Distinguished Scholar in Biology. The faculty of various disciplines at William Woods have the opportunity each spring to designate one graduating senior as a Distinguished Scholar. A minimum grade point average of 3.4 is required, but the faculty may consider other relevant academic factors and variables in the selection process.

A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students for Who’s Who based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

By being listed in Who’s Who, Weber joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.

Weber has been president of the Biology Club, vice president of the Pre-Vet Club and secretary and vice president of Beta Beta Beta biology honor society. She has been the junior and senior class representative on the Student Alumni Council, a member of the Campus Activities Board and a member of the Hunter-Jumper Show Team.
