Lisa Burke Named to Who’s Who

Lisa BurkeLisa Burke of Louisburg, Kan., has been named to the 2011 edition of “Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

Burke, a communications major, was one of 14 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who based on outstanding campus leadership.
 
A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
 
By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Burke joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
 
In addition, Burke received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Senior Award at William Woods University’s recent co-curricular honors banquet.
 
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
 
Burke has been chapter president and vice president of chapter relations and standards of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She has been a University Ambassador, member of The Talon newspaper staff and previous member of the dance team, telecounselor and former secretary of Hands Up Club.
 
She has volunteered for Serve food pantry, Relay for Life, St. Jude’s Up ‘til Dawn, mission trip to New York, Garrett Animal Shelter, Out Little Haven, school supplies drive, CARDV and Take Back the Night.
