WWU Names New IT Director

Jim Long, who has more than 20 years of experience in games and management with an emphasis in MMO-based content and systems design, has joined William Woods University as the information technology director.
Long, who lives in Fulton, holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Columbia College. He owned and/or managed Paragon Designs,1987-1990; AWOL Productions, 1990-1996; IM OK Games, LLC, since 2004, and Laserworks, LLC, 2004-2006.
He also served as manager of data processing for the Missouri Association of REALTORS, system analyst for American Computing Systems, senior systems analyst/programmer for Data-Link Systems, information center analyst for A.P. Green Industries, program manager and manager of shared services for Quarterdeck, analyst and team leader for Shelter Mutual Insurance, executive vice president of game design and product development for WizKids Games.
Most recently, Long worked as the design manager of Virgil Games Inc., where he developed and managed game designer and audio teams. He was also the CEO and president of Red Juggernaut, Inc., and the lead designer for Cryptic Studios.
The IT director is responsible for providing leadership and guidance including the development of information technology strategies. Long also oversees the computer, telephone and cable networks, along with managing the technology budgeting and planning for WWU.
Long received the InQuest Fan Award - DC HeroClix: Legacy Award and the Diamond Gem Award in 2006. He won the Orgins Award in 2005 and was a nominee in 2007 and 2008.
