FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (573) 592-1127

William Woods University undergraduate education majors will have a chance to learn from professional educators tonight (Feb. 3).

Approximately 15 area superintendents, principals and other school leaders have agreed to meet with students and help them prepare to be first-year teachers. They will discuss issues, strategies and programs with the college students.

The program, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at WWU’s Columbia site, 3100 Falling Leaf Court, has been organized by Dr. Roger Wen, associate professor of education and business. Wen said 82 undergraduate students originally signed up for the event, and he hopes most of them will be able to attend.

“Only one, possibly two, district/school leaders won’t be able to make it for tonight’s event,” Wen said. “Some of them are driving more than 60 miles to meet with the students and there is no other time that we can reschedule the event.”
Here is the schedule:
5 p.m.: Sign-in/filling out survey/extra credit information
5:20 p.m.: Networking with School Leaders/Pizza and drinks
6 p.m.: Meeting between pre-service teacher and practicing educators
