A talented singer-songwriter will visit William Woods University as the Campus Activities Board’s final concert of the semester.
On Wednesday (Nov. 18), Shannon Curtis will perform live in the McNutt Campus Center as part of her eight-week fall tour. Scheduled for 8 p.m., the concert is free and open to the public.
Curtis has long called Sacramento, Calif., her home, and has spent much of her career traveling in the Los Angeles area performing. Her upcoming fall tour, however, stretches her far beyond California, allowing her to entertain at WWU.
She launched her career as the lead singer of Paradigm, and has since discovered the excitement and challenges of becoming a solo artist.
Since beginning her solo career, Curtis has become a must-see attraction in states stretching from California to Washington D.C. Recently, her song, “Before the Sun,” was featured on MTV’s hit series “The Hills.”
The Los Angeles Times describes Curtis as, “a beautiful piano player who sounds like the love child of Fiona Apple and Norah Jones.”
Curtis released two extended plays (EP’s) in the past two years, which were Boomerangs & Seesaws (2007) and Paris Can’t Have You (2008). Last year, Curtis performed in more than 125 gigs and traveled around 40,000 miles across the United States.
