The Office of Multicultural Affairs at William Woods University will give WWU students the opportunity to indulge in the many “Flavors of Puerto Rico” in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Puerto Rican native Micki Moarrero, founder and chef of New York Deli in Columbia, Mo., will bring culture to the mouths of students by cooking and providing samples of her favorite dishes. These include “Arroz con Gandules y Pernier” a special recipe with rice, beans and roast pork. She will also share some of her personal experiences of living in Puerto Rico.
The event will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in Aldridge.
Tammy Carter, coordinator of multicultural affairs, said, “This ‘tasty’ affair will give students a cultural learning experience that will not only excite their taste buds but will introduce them into the exciting cultures that represent Puerto Rico—a fine way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.”
