Fall Jumping Derby for Saturday

The William Woods University Hunter Jumper Show Team will host a one-day Hunter/Jumper Show Saturday, Oct. 12. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the university’s cross country course, north of Firley Soccer Field. Spectators are welcome, but are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

The annual H/J Show Team Silent Auction will be the following Saturday, Oct. 19.

“It is our mission that these unique activities will provide a fun, affordable competition for riders, their friends and families, offering a fun-filled atmosphere and quality trophies, ribbons and prizes,” Linda McClaren, assistant professor of equestrian science and sponsor of the organization, said.

The 2002 Jumping Derby is a member of the Missouri Horse Shows Association and the Missouri Hunter Jumper Organization. The 2002 Silent Auction will be held during the WWU Fall Festival Horse Show. There will be no admission charge for spectators at either event.

The 2002 Jumping Derby is being put on to benefit the Hunter/Jumper Show Team, whose members will use the proceeds to defray the cost of attending a national-level horse show in the Spring.
