Five WWU Students Receive Missouri College Fund Scholarships

Recipients from Fulton are Ciara Cheatum and Crystal Benton. Other recipients are Nicole DeWoskin of Chesterfield, LeeAnn Knaebel of Jefferson City and Brittany Welton of Willow Springs.
Cheatum is a senior majoring in business administration and Benton is majoring in middle school education.
Money for Cheatum’s scholarship came from Enterprise Rent-A-Car Minority Scholarship, which provided $15,000 for student scholarships on MCF-member campuses. To be eligible, recipients must be studying in a business-related field.
Cheatum is involved in campus activities and is employed by the university as a community advisor. She is also a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and a member and past president of the Multicultural Affairs Club. Cheatum is also a leader in the PeaceJam organization.
Money for Benton’s scholarship came from the Monsanto Fund, which provided $30,000 to the Missouri Colleges Fund for student scholarships. The award is given to graduating seniors who plan to teach science or math in a public school in Missouri upon graduation.
Benton, a mother of two, is president of Kappa Delta Pi education honorary and a student member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
