The jazz age lives on in this romantic spoof set in the carefree world of the French Riviera in the Roaring 1920s. With its catchy tunes, period dances (including the Charleston) and winning sense of humor, “The Boy Friend” is a tongue-in-cheek romp.
The cast includes four William Woods University students from Fulton: Sam Binkley as Alphonse, Harrison Jones as Marcel, Nicole Elliot as Colette and Katie Binkley as Hortense.
Other student performers from Missouri are Taryn Watts of Nixa as Polly; Cody Olendorff of Pacific as Tony, Dustin West of Kansas City as Bobby, Allison Ward of St. Louis as Dulcie, Bryan Schmiderer of Pacific as Pierre and the Curtain Speech, William Shults of Kingdom City as Frederic and the Gendarme, Amanda Walker of Hillsboro as Edith and Amanda Almich of Granby as Lady Brockhurst.
Student performers from out of state are Rachel Petricka of Las Vegas, Nev., as Maisie; Bethany Hall of Des Moines, Iowa, as Fay, and Ann DeHart of Keosauqua, Iowa, as Nancy.
Community cast members are Larry Doyle Jr. as Edourd, Kathy Potter as Madame Dubonnet, Jacob West as Percival Brown and Jody Paschal as Lord Brockhurst.
The production will be directed by Joe Potter, WWU theatre professor for 26 years. Serving as music director is Rebecca Talbert, adjunct music instructor. Adrienne Branson, adjunct dance instructor and WWU alumna, will be the choreographer. Jan Friedman, staff costumer, will design the costumes.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Oct. 10, 11, 17 and 18, with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12, in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.
