Jefferson City Resident Named Outstanding

She is the daughter of Louise Weber and Scott Garnett.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Garnett has been involved in numerous clubs and organizations at WWU. She is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and has held the positions of vice president of intellectual development, vice president of chapter relations and standards, chapter relations and standards board, nominating committee and risk management committee.
She has held the office of freshman, sophomore and junior class president for the Student Alumni Council. She is also a member of the President’s Twenty and a former University Ambassador.
The past two years she has been the assistant director of the Freshman Advantage program and has held various mentor positions during Orientation Week.
In addition to those positions, she is current member of GAMMA (Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol), University Phonathon, Order of Omega, Campus Activities Board, and is a campus leader in helping to create Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society.
Along with her campus leadership, Garnett has taken part in several community service projects including: Relay for Life, Bowl for Kids Sake, Up ‘til Dawn, Adopt a Family, Adopt a Soldier, Missouri Democratic Headquarters volunteer, tsunami fundraising relief effort coordinator, Operation Toys volunteer and March of Dimes, in addition to several other service projects.
