Fulton Resident Among 10 Students Named Outstanding at WWU

The son of Christopher and Susan Jones of Fulton, he is an American Sign Language interpreting major with a minor in political and legal studies.
The Outstanding Student Awards were presented at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 23. They are the only awards at WWU bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Also named an Outstanding Freshman was Ann Dehart of Keosauqua, Iowa.
Outstanding Sophomores were Heather Oetjen of Prior Lake, Minn., and Allison Ward of Hazelwood, Mo.
Selected as Outstanding Juniors were Missouri residents Stacie Bonte of Fenton, Kristin Garnett of Jefferson City and Andy Hamilton of Troy.
Chosen as Outstanding Seniors were Sarah Chatham of Chatham, Ill.; Victoria Luisi of Carrollton, Texas and Whitney Miller of Boise, Idaho.
A member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Jones serves as recruitment chair and co-fundraising chair. He is actively involved in the theatre department and is a member of Jesters.
He is also a member of the National Honor Society and was a member of Bridging the Gap, a program where students go to nursing homes to help the elderly. Next semester, he will be a Community Advisor.
