Members of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at William Woods University sold red carnations on campus for Valentine’s Day, raising about $300. They also collected money through various Lyre Fest activities for which other sororities and fraternities pay a fee.
Altogether, they raised nearly $1,100 in support of their national philanthropy. In conjunction with WWU’s Counseling and Health Services and CARDV, they also co-sponsored an informational program on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
"This year our philanthropy was a huge success,” Alpha Chi Omega President Stacie Bonte of Fenton, Mo., said. “We had many participants and we all came together to raise money for one purpose: to fight against domestic violence. Everyone was able to become more aware of the issue through activities and events which were fun and a good experience."
Thursday Bonte and Kenzie Huber of St. Paul, Mo., who is vice president for fraternity relations, presented a check to Donna Rodenbaugh, executive director of CARDV.
