Faculty Member Named Distinguished Professor at William Woods

The award carries an honorarium and is given annually to a faculty member who has displayed dedication to teaching. Popp, a Jefferson City resident, has taught at the university since 2001.
She earned Certified Financial Planner certification in November 2004. Her areas of expertise are entrepreneurship, small business, personal finance, insurance, investments and income tax.
Popp came to William Woods from Lincoln University, where she taught financial management, personal finance and essentials of investments. She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration at Lincoln.
She owned and managed Popp’s Catering, Inc., for 16 years and was co-owner of Popp’s Farms from 1976 to 2000. She was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Lincoln University in 1991.
Active in community affairs, Popp was appointed by the Cole County Commissioners to serve on the Planning and Zoning Committee. She also has served on the Cole County and City of Jefferson strategic planning committee, as well as the board and fundraising committee of Samaritan Center.
