Finocchio’s work incorporates everything from animals and architecture to landscapes and sculptures. It interweaves art history, images, and the artist’s own photography into dreamlike situations that attempt to stimulate viewers' inquiry.

“These works present my understanding of the relationship between the realms in which we exist with familiarity, juxtaposed with those from which we live apart,” says Finocchio.

And prepare to understand the images through your own lens.

“I prefer that the painting not endorse a specific meaning so that the viewer is free to interpret the images by way of personal experience,” shares Finocchio. “It is always my hope that viewers will linger and find aspects of these visual statements to be persuasive and purposeful.”

His work is on display at the Mildred Cox Gallery in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts at William Woods. The show will run from Friday, January 6 through Thursday, February 9, with an opening reception and gallery talk on Thursday, January 12, from 4 – 6 p.m.

Admission to the Cox Gallery is free. It is open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
